Elizabeth McConkey was born in Homes county, Ohio, March 18, 1848, and departed this life March 4, 1929. Her mother died when she was in her infancy. She had one brother, Phineas McConkey, who was five years her senior, and served his country four years in the Civil War. He was a captain in Company F of the Iowa infantry.
Some time after the mother's death, her father married again and moved to Winterset, Iowa. Here Elizabeth was married on July 19, 1870 to Uriah Wiltse, and they made their home for several years in Delaware county. They moved to Rawlins county, Kansas, in November, 1886, where Mr. Wiltse died October 22, 1888.
Sister Wiltse was married again to Araba Niles Partch, on April 24, 1889, and moved with him to Cloud county, Kansas. He passed away April 15, 1922, since which time she has made her home with her son, John.
Sister Partch was the mother of four sons. Elias Wiltse, who died and was buried in Rawlins county, Kansas, in 1887; Albert Wiltse, who departed this life on November 7, 1879, in Iowa, at the age of eight years; George William Wiltse and John Andrew Partch, who are residents of Cloud county, Kansas, and were with their mother when she quietly slipped away. Beside these were two stepsons; one Warren Wiltse, deceased, and J. P. Partch who resides in Artesia, New Mexico.
Sister Partch has been a Christian for many years and was affiliated with the United Brethren church. After moving to Miltonvale she united with the Methodist Episcopal church and has continued to be a true child of God. She has been a shut-in for many months, but was not alone. She regretted much that she could not attend church services, but rejoiced in the Heavenly Father's love. She had many friends.
Short funeral services were held from the home Wednesday morning at 11:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Call Cowman, pastor of the Methodist church, and the remains were taken to Highland cemetery, nine miles north of Glasco, for burial.
___________________Transcriber's note: The deceased's brother, Phineas was a Private, rather than a Captain, in Company F, 4th Iowa Infantry.
