Mrs. Isabelle Kimer died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. C. Stiles, at Des Moines, Wednesday, November 28th. She was one of the residents of the Science Hill neighborhood in Warren county living for years where her son, Will now lives. For some time she had made her home in Des Moines. She was highly respected and loved by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held at the St. Charles M.E. church on Friday afternoon, December 1st, at 2 o’clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. E. Parks, assisted by the Revs. L. R. Gans and L. F. Park, and interment in the St. Charles cemetery.

Isabelle Young was born near New Castle, Lawrence county, Pennsylvania, December 26, 1835. She spent her early childhood and young womanhood with her parents, William and Elizabeth R. Young, coming with them in the early “fifties” to Iowa, where they settled in Madison county. She died November 29, 1922, at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth S. Stiles, Des Moines, aged 86 years, 11 months and 3 days.

She was married to Lewis Kimer on December 12, 1859. To this union were born two sons—Grant L., of Indianola, Iowa and William L., of St. Charles, Iowa, and one daughter, Elizabeth S. Stiles, of Des Moines, Iowa, who are left to mourn her loss. In addition to the above she leaves one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Keziah McClosky, of St. Charles, Iowa, also a large number of other relatives, consisting of grandchildren, nephews, nieces and others.

She was brought up in the faith of the United Presbyterian church, but after her marriage, she and her husband united with the Methodist Episcopal church at St. Charles, afterwards her membership was transferred to the M.E. church at Indianola, where it still remains of record.

Lewis Kimer, the husband, died at Indianola, February 3, 1907. Since that time she has made her home with her children, the past eight years being with her daughter, Elizabeth S., of Des Moines.

She struggled alone with all the cares and hardships during the period of the Civil war, while the husband and father was at the front fighting for his country.

She was a strict Sabbatharian, a great reader of the Bible and loved to discuss the scriptures.

She was a kind Christian mother, always having her thoughts centered on her family, relatives and friends.

In her last conscious moments, a few hours before death, she said to her daughter, “Everything is all right,” then went to sleep and passed away peacefully sleeping.
