Shot in Front of Place of Business by the Husband of Employee
The Lamar Colorado News gives the account of the killing of C. A. McCleeary, a former resident of Madison county. Mr. McCleeary moved from Lee township, to Garden City, Kan. about fifteen years ago and then to Lamar, Colo. It is rumored here that Mrs. Linschem, wife of the enraged husband who killed McCleeary, was formerly Mrs. Chas. Driscoll, who figured in the Cook-Driscoll tragedy in Jefferson township for which Cook is serving a life sentence at Fort Madison. However, this statement cannot be verified.
According to the Lamar paper, McCleeary had been active in helping Mrs. Linschem in divorce proceedings. The latter was employed by McCleeary in a café. The husband shot him in front of his place of business and then gave himself up to the police.
