Phyllis Maxine, only child of Mac and Lovisa Gentry, was born in Winterset on Jan. 25, 1915, and after a brief stay of seven and one half years, the silent messenger bore her spirit away to transplant it in that heaven of eternal rest. All that loving hearts and hands could do for her were done during her long and serious illness, which lasted from May 19 until her passing way at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, July 22, 1922.

In infancy, Maxine was christened in the United Presbyterian church, and since she was old enough, she attended Sunday school at the Church of Christ. She was the light of the home and in her passing away the home is left desolate and sad. Her place is vacant in the home, the school and the Sunday school. We shall see her no more on earth, but we have the blessed assurance that she is safely housed in our Father’s home. We can well say of her, none knew her but to love, none named her but to praise.

There is left to mourn her departure, her heartbroken father and mother, two grandmothers, one grandfather, nine aunts, four uncles and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by E. B. Chancellor from the Church of Christ on Monday afternoon at 2:30. Burial in the Winterset cemetery.
