Mrs. James Picken died at her home east of town last Thursday morning. Funeral services were held in the U.P. church last Saturday and her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery west of town.

Mrs. James Picken

Sarah Ann Shutt was born near St. Charles, Iowa October 5, 1868, and died at her home east of St. Charles, Iowa April 6, 1922. She was united in marriage to John F. Romine December 31, 1889, to this union were born two children, Frank who lives in Colorado and Nannie Cashman of Wyoming. Mr. Romine died when Nannie was two years old.

In 1903 Mrs. Romine and James Picken were united in marriage and to this union two children were born, Helen and Clyde, who with the husband survive her. She also leaves her aged father, three sisters and three brothers. She had been in failing health for the past two years but was up and around. She was taken suddenly worse Tuesday night and passed away about 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian church.

Funeral services were held in the church Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Field of the M. E. church and Rev. Gans of the Christian church. The pall bearers were six of her cousins. Interment was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
