Death of Charles McGlothlen

Word has been received of the death of Charles McGlothlen at Rochester, Minn. He had been in poor health for a year, going to Loveland, Colo., for his health. Physicians advised an operation, which was performed Monday morning at the Mayo hospital and death came this morning. Mrs. McGlothlen, who was with him, is awaiting the arrival of her brother, Fred Davis of Lorimor; hence the body is not expected to arrive in Winterset until Friday. Burial will take place here.

Charles Henry McGlothlen was born near Macksburg, May 16, 1881 and departed this life at Rochester, Minn., April 5, 1922, aged 40 years, 10 months and 10 days. He was reared and all his life was spent in Madison county, except the last year.

On Feb. 14, 1918 he was married to Miss Levica Davis and they began housekeeping on a farm near Macksburg, where they lived until last June, when they moved to Loveland, Colo., on account of ill health. Recently he returned to Winterset for consultation concerning his health and on advice of a physician, went to Rochester for an operation, the result of which caused pneumonia and his death.

In earlier life he made a profession of his faith in Christ and untied with the Wesley Methodist church near Macksburg. He was a constant reader of the Bible and firmly believed in its promises, which faith he kept to the end.

He leaves to mourn his death, the companion, a mother, two sisters, other relatives and many friends.

A brief service was conducted at the home by Rev. Jackson Giddens, pastor of the M.E. church and the sermon was preached in the M.E. church at Macksburg, Monday afternoon by Rev. LeRoy C. Cooley, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Winterset. Interment was in the Macksburg cemetery.
