Page 1Death of Fred Porter
Fred Porter died on Jan. 14th at his home near Lorimor. Tuberculosis following an attack of influenza was the cause of his death.
Mr. Porter’s parents lived in the Macksburg neighborhood in his youth. He afterward removed to the Ord and Patterson neighborhoods.
Death came on the anniversary of the death of his father and sister. He is survived by Mrs. Porter, one son, Lyle, and a daughter, Gertrude.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday morning by Rev. Shannon of Peru at the home in Monroe township, burial taking place in the Clark cemetery.

Fred Elsworth Porter was born in Madison county, Iowa March 15, 1879, and died at his home in Madison county, Iowa January 14, 1922, age 42 years, 9 months, and 29 days. He was the son of Samuel M. Porter who proceeded him in death nine years ago. He has been in failing health the last three years.
In 1899 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Porter and to this union was blessed two children who are living, Gertrude and Lyle, who are at home. He was a loving father and kind neighbor and a helpful friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his death a wife, two children, five sisters and two brothers; Lilly Bierce, Minnie Blair, and John Porter of Afton, Bonnie and Henry Porter of Haveloc, Nebraska, and Alto Porter, of Casper, Wyoming.
