Lucille R. Kubitz-Mueller, Johnston

Lucille Mueller-Kubitz, 99, died August 26, 2013 at Bishop Drumm. Memorial Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28 at the Our Lady of Peace Chapel at Bishop Drumm. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Wednesday, at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd. in Clive. Private family interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Cumming. Lucille was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Lucille was born in Bronx, New York on July 9, 1914 to Benjamin and Lucy Prince. She was united in marriage to Gordon Mueller on November 5, 1940. During the early years of marriage and the births of their six children, they lived in New York and Wisconsin. After business moves to Connecticut and Massachusetts, Lucille spent the next 34 years in California. Lucille was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church in Burlingame, CA, and volunteered at the Mercy Center book store.

In 1990, after the death of her first husband, Lucille married Alfred Kubitz. In 2002, Lucille moved to Iowa to be near her granddaughter, Bethany, during the last years of Bethany's life. Lucille was blessed with the chance to travel to many countries on business with her husband; but most precious to her was her special family.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Gordon Mueller; her son, Robert; brother, John Prince; sister, Theresa Marfilius; and beloved granddaughter, Bethany Cooper. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Alfred Kubitz. She is survived by her five children: Larry (Carol) Mueller of Redwood City, CA, Mary Alden of Prescott, AZ, JoAnn Prince of Des Moines, Christine Wright of Phoenix, AZ, and Elaine (Steve) Cooper of Des Moines; three daughters-in-love: Gladys Mueller, Yong Mueller and Danielle Mueller; sisters: Regina McAllister of East Meadow, NY and Bonnie Lynch of Garden City, NY; brother, Frank Reckholder of Lakewood, NJ; Alfred Kubitz's son, Alan and daughter, Karen; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lucille's name to Bishop Drumm.
