DELBERT A. JONES, Winterset

April 5, 1929 - Aug. 4, 2013

Delbert A. Jones, 84, of Winterset, Iowa, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Country Haven Guest House, Ltd in Winterset.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Michael Mahan officiating.  Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.

Delbert was born on April 5, 1929 at Madison County, Iowa to Loren and Nora (Harrell) Jones.  He had been a lifetime resident of Madison County.  Delbert graduated from Winterset High School in 1947 and had been a lifetime farmer.  He had also worked at Mahle/Parr Manufacturing in Winterset, having started there at the age of 65. Delbert belonged to the Madison County Farm Bureau and had held several county positions with them.  He also collected and sold antiques and had operated Covered Bridge Antiques for several years.  He was a member of the Zion Federated Church and had been instrumental in having the church building moved to the Madison County Historical Complex. 

Delbert is survived by his nephew, Willis (Tammy) Jones of Van Meter; nieces, Phyllis Jones of Peru and Alberta (Phil) Voge of Webster City; and two great nieces and three great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Nora (Harrell) Jones; and brother, Albert Jones.

Visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 8 PM at the Zion Church at the Madison County Historical Complex with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. 

Memorials may be given to his family for a future designation.
