ROBERT A. BLAIR

Robert A. Blair, son of Alexander and Amanda Scott Blair, as born near Patterson, Iowa, October 26, 1867. He grew up in this community and spent nearly his entire life in the immediate neighborhood.

He was a carpenter, at which trade he was particularly efficient. He worked at the carpenter trade until ill health made it necessary for him to give it up.

He died at Bevington, April 22, 1937, having attained the age of 69 years, 5 months and 26 days.

He is survived by three brothers and one sister. They are William and George of Madison county, and Oliver of Chewelah, Wash., and one sister, Mrs. Lucy Moore of Warren county, besides many friends.

Funeral services were held at Blair Chapel April 24 and interment was in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. E. W. Mueller officiated.

ROBT. BLAIR SHOOTS SELF THROUGH HEART

Robert A. Blair, 69, fired a shot through his heart at five o’clock Thursday morning of last week. Death was almost instantaneous. Ill health was given as the cause. He left a note stating persons he wished notified of his death and making arrangements for his funeral.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Blair who came about 1860 from Adair county, Kentucky, to settle on the Blair farm west of Blair Chapel, he was born on the old home place. The Blair family was prominent in the southeast part of the county and was widely known.

Mr. Blair was a carpenter and followed that trade many years. For some time he had been caretaker at the depot at Bevington.

Services were held Saturday afternoon at Blair Chapel conducted by the Rev. R. Mueller of the Martensdale Lutheran Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He leaves three brothers, George of St. Charles, William of Winterset, and Oliver of Oregon, and a sister, Mrs. Moore of Medora.
