Barbara Gale was born in Cambridge Massachusetts on February 3, 1919, the daughter of Philroy and Nellie (Boyd) Gale. In 1929, her family moved to Long Beach in Michigan City, Indiana where Barbara graduated from Elston High School and met her future husband, William Paul Angrick, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in Sociology and her teacher's license.
In 1943, Barbara married Bill who was working for the Army Corp of Engineers in the Panama Canal Zone. Because it was war time, Barbara secured a job as secretary for the Navy Lieutenant Incoming Stores Officer. While living in Panama, son William Paul II was born. After the war, Barbara and family returned to Michigan City and bought their first home and daughter, Barbara (Genualdi) was born. Three years later, the Angrick family moved to LaPorte. Bill and Barbara lived happily in LaPorte for the rest of their 58 year marriage.
Barbara was a stay at home mom while her children were young and volunteered in the community. She served as a board member of the City's Park Department and the LaPorte County Library for many years. She was LaPorte's first lady for a time when Bill was appointed Mayor of LaPorte in 1983. She was a member of St Paul's Episcopal Church, Questers, Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Gamma Fraternity, Tri Kappa Sorority and Beechwood Women's Golf Association. She and Bill enjoyed antiquing and traveling, taking several trips abroad.
In 2008, Barbara moved to Iowa to be closer to her family. Barbara was extremely proud of her four grandchildren, William Paul Angrick III, Michael Boyd Angrick, Commander Marc Genualdi USN, (ret), Helen Genualdi and step-grandson Merle Welch. She has 5 great-grandchildren, Nick, Will and Matt Angrick; Dylan and Alexandra Genualdi; and 2 step granddaughters, Grace and Hannah Welch.
During her five years in Winterset Iowa Barbara developed a close friendship with Kristie and Myron Hirschman, their children Kathie, Carl, Barbara and granddaughters, Paylyn and Jewel. The Angrick family is most grateful for their love and devotion to Barbara.
