Murray L. Rankin, 53, of 107 E. Fourteenth Court died of cancer Sunday at Mercy Hospital after an illness of five months.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, with burial at noon Wednesday in the Winterset Cemetery in Winterset.

Born in Moberly, Mo., Mr. Rankin lived in Des Moines since 1946. He was employed by Owen Crist Auto Body Service and was a member of Local 254 of the Machinists Union and the Capitol Hill Christian Church. He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Mrs. Dianna Lourens of Mitchellville and Cynthia of Des Moines; four sons, Max of Prairie City, Rex of Colorado Springs, Colo., Donald and Ronald, both of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Mary Lee Hindman of Lorimor; a brother, Joe of Des Moines, and four grandchildren.
