Barbara J. Davitt, 90, of Norwalk died of a respiratory ailment Tuesday at Regency Care Center there. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church in Cumming, of which she was a member. Burial will be at St. Patrick Irish Settlement Cemetery there.

Mrs. Davitt was born in Warren County and had lived in the Indianola area from the mid-1940s until moving to Norwalk in the early 1980s. She was a homemaker and a former teacher.

Survivors include a son, Robert of Clive; five daughters, Mary Steinhauser of Parnell, Mo., Joann Deatsch of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Dorothy Thomas of Morton, Ill., Jane McCurnin of Norwalk and Helen Ripperger of Indianola; two sisters, Annette Gallagher of Davenport and Thomasine Durham of Indianola; 32 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, where a rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where a Scriptural wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s research.
