Anna Anderson of St. Charles Dies

Mrs. Anna Anderson, a well-known St. Charles woman and member of a well-known family in the Warren-Madison county area, died at a nursing home in Osceola, where she had lived the past year. She was 86 years of age.

Mrs. Anderson was the widow of Hugh P. Anderson, a St. Charles merchant for many years. She was the former Anna Irwin, daughter of Samuel and Isabel Steel Irwin. She was born in the Irish Grove neighborhood, west of New Virginia on May 5, 1873. Her father was a Civil war veteran who served in the Iowa legislature. In 1889 she moved with her family into St. Charles where she attended high school.

She was married to Hugh P. Anderson in 1893. His death occurred in 1932.

She leaves six children: Dr. N. Boyd Anderson of Des Moines, William S. Anderson, an attorney in Rochester, N.Y., Gerald H. Anderson at home, Amanda Way of Arlington, Va., Margaret Strate of Parkersburg, W. Va., and Dr. Robert E. Anderson of Chariton.
