Rites Held For A. Leone Mayer

Arletta Leone Mayer of R.R. 4, Winterset died Wednesday, July 9, at Winterset Care Center South at the age of 76. She was a lifelong resident here.

Born on Aug. 20, 1903, in Coles County, Ill., she was the daughter of Oscar and Nora Hoots Black. She was united in marriage to Harold Mayer on Aug. 3, 1926, in Des Moines. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1974.

Among the survivors are a son, John of Winterset; three grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice Black of Iowa City and Paul Black of Silver City; and two sisters, Nellie Cochran and Helen Crawford, both of Macksburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11, at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Ray M. Richardson officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
