Funeral Held For Robert Fryer Jr.

Robert E. Fryer Jr. of 51 E. Lane St. died Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 53. A native of Des Moines, he had lived in Winterset for the last eight years.

Born on April 12, 1927, in Des Moines, he was the son of Robert E. and Inez Mae Gray Fryer. He was united in marriage to Rita Mae Moore on Sept. 17, 1955, in Algona, Ind., and she survives him.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Fryer also served in the National Guard, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines and the Seabees. After his discharge, he traveled between California and Iowa working at various jobs and residing in Winterset where he was a carpenter and construction worker.

Survivors also include four children, Diana Fryer Benn, Bobbie Fryer and William E. Fryer, all of Winterset, and John Fryer at home; a grandson; and his mother Inez Fryer of Winterset. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Grotweold officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
