Alfred Marquardt Services Held

Alfred Marquardt died Sunday , March 2 at the Villa West Care Center in Winterset, at the age of 84 years.

Son of Herman and Katherine Storck Marquardt, he was born May 27, 1895, on his parents’ farm in Jefferson township, Madison County.

He was baptized in infancy at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Van Meter, and was later confirmed in the same church.

On April 7, 1943 he married Velma Louise Hoy at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Alfred spent his entire life farming until his health failed. He specialized in raising Black Angus cattle.

His wife preceded him in death on May 9, 1961. Others to precede him in death were his parents, four brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include three nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services were held Wednesday March 5 at 2:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church south of Van Meter, with interment at the Lutheran cemetery.
