Page 1Burial of Six at Peru Cemetery
Burials for six members of the same Des Moines area family were conducted Monday, August 16, at Peru Cemetery, all six of the victims of a flash flood that swept through Big Thompson Canyon in Colorado on Saturday, July 31.
The dead were identified as William F. Haskell, 70, and his wife Emma J., 63, of 3009 Indianapolis Ave., Des Moines; their son William T. Haskell, 32, and his wife Judy, 31, and 5 year old Chad Haskell, 4777 Parkview Drive in Pleasant Hill, and another grandson, Kelly Lemon, 13, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Lemon, Jr., 3240 E. University Ave., Des Moines.
Monday, the body of William F. Haskell had not yet been recovered from the flood-devastated resort area in Colorado. The entire group had been vacationing there when the disaster occurred which has still left 20 Iowans missing.
Funeral services Monday were conducted at 1 p.m. from Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Haskell and their son, Chad, and Kelly Lemon, Des Moines area residents who died in the Colorado flood, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Peru Cemetery in Peru.
Mr. and Mrs. William F. Haskell were vacationing in the Big Thompson River Canyon with their grandson, Kelly, and their son, William T., his wife, Judy, and the couple’s son, Chad, when the flash flood swept through the canyon July 31.
Officials said the bodies of William F. Haskell and Chad have not yet been recovered, but both are listed among the dead.
William F. Haskell, 70, and his wife Emma J. 63, of 3009 Indianapolis Ave., had lived in Des Moines 40 years. They were members of the Royal Neighbors and the Berean Assembly of God Church. Mr. Haskell was a retired engineer at East High School, and Mrs. Haskell was a retired nurse.
William T. Haskell, 32, and his wife, Judy, 31, and Chad, 5, lived at 4777 Parkview Drive in Pleasant Hill. They were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Royal Neighbors. Mr. Haskell was a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service, and Mrs. Haskell was employed at the S and L Beauty Salon here.
Kelly Greg Lemon, 13 of 3240 E. University Ave., was a student at Wilson Junior High School and was a member of the Grandview Park Baptist Church and the Royal Neighbors. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Lemon, Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. William F. Haskell are survived by a son, Steven of Des Moines; two daughters, Helen Kay Lemon, of Des Moines and Karen Spence of Indianola; and three grandchildren. Mr. Haskell also is survived by five sisters: Grace Haskell of Burbank, Calif., Gladys Kramer of Gladbrook, Maime Lunde of Traer, and Judy Nickerson and Wanda Lovig, both of Marshalltown.
William T. Haskell is survived by a brother, Steven, and two sisters, Helen Kay Lemon and Karen Spence.
Judy Haskell is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Golwitzer of Glidden; three sisters, Joleen Wilson of Lake City, and Sandra Boell and Mary Jo Golwitzer, both of Carroll, and a brother, Daniel of Glidden.
Chad Haskell is survived by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Golwitzer.
Kelly Greg Lemon is survived by his parents, a brother, Kevin, at home, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. George Lemon, Sr., of Des Moines.
A rosary for the William T. Haskell family will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Hamilton’s Funeral Home.
