Word was received Sunday, February 8, of the death of Mrs. Dale Swan, 47, the former Jean Ballard, in Vancouver, Washington. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claire Ballard of Macksburg.
The parents flew to Washington this week to attend funeral services.

Jean Elizabeth, daughter of Aileen Hays Ballard and Claire Ballard, was born July 15, 1929 in Miles City, Montana. She passed away February 8 at Vancouver, Washington.
She graduated from Macksburg High School in 1947, completed two years of junior college in Creston and received her degree in education after two years at Drake University in Des Moines. She taught for four years in the Truro School system.
On August 5, 1955 she was united in marriage to William Dale Swan at her home in Macksburg. To this union were born two sons, Wayne and Kelly.
She is survived by her husband, William Dale and her two sons of Vancouver, Washington; her parents Mr. and Mrs. Claire Ballard of Macksburg; one brother, Keith, of Littleton, Colorado; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Alice Hutchinson of Truro, and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held at East Vancouver Methodist Church in Vancouver, Washington on February 11, 1976. Burial will be at the Young Cemetery in Truro, Iowa.
