Blanche Ely Services Held

Graveside services were held here this Tuesday for Blanche Ely, 88, a Madison County native and former teacher in the Winterset school system. She died last Friday, June 21 in Maryland.

Blanche Ely was born northwest of Winterset in Douglas township on March 30, 1886, the daughter of Henry and Nellie Clark Ely.

She graduated from Winterset High School, Iowa State Teachers College and Drake University and taught in the Madison County and Winterset school systems.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Graveside services were held in the Winterset Cemetery at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25 with Rev. Dr. Paul Hann officiating.
