Asa Armstrong Services Held

Asa Armstrong, a lifetime resident and farmer in Madison County, died last Wednesday, August 11, at the age of 84. The Madison Manor Nursing Home in Winterset was the place of death.

Mr. Armstrong was born on December 22, 1886 at Peru, Iowa, the son of G. W. and Olive James Armstrong. On March 16, 1910, he was married to Goldie Elizabeth Turk at Winterset. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1967.

Mr. Armstrong was a longtime resident of Webster Township, where he farmed until his retirement in 1960.

He is survived by two daughters, Marian Lynch of Winterset and Lois Ingram of Winterset. Five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother, J. L. Armstrong of Omaha, Nebraska, and three sisters, Mrs. Clyde Morgan of Winterset, Laura Armstrong of Des Moines and Mrs. Harley Ogburn of Texas, also survive.

Funeral services were held last Friday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. Keith Archer officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
