Wednesday, September 24, 1969Kenneth Murphy Dies at 59 Years
Kenneth Murphy, a well-known resident of Winterset for many years, died Monday, Sept. 22, at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines. He was 59 years of age.
Mr. Murphy was a native of Missouri, where he was born in Clark county on Feb. 8, 1910. He was a son of Wilbur C. and Dora F. Murphy. He was brought to Madison county at the age of 4 years. For many years he engaged in the car repair business in Winterset. Recently, he had been living in Scott township.
He was married Dec. 29, 1933, to Florence J. Kelsey. Her death occurred in 1961.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Edna Louise Foote of Ann Arbor, Mich., Charles W. Murphy of Des Moines and Kathleen K. Murphy of Ann Arbor; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Murphy of St. Charles; a brother, Fred Murphy of Winterset; and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Wilcox of Commerce City, Colo., and Mrs. Kathryn Strable of Denver, Colo.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by Don Coffman. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
