Hattie Lorentz Dies at 90 Years

Mrs. Hattie P. Lorentz of Winterset, a long-time resident of the Peru community, died Saturday, Jan. 18 at Memorial hospital here. She was 90 years of age.

Mrs. Lorentz was a native of Illinois, where she was born at LaMoille on Oct. 31, 1878. She was a daughter of John and Hannah Hammer Williams. She was married in Illinois on Feb. 20, 1901, to George Lorentz. They came to Madison county 68 years ago, and most of their life was spent at Peru. Mr. Lorentz died in 1929. She moved to Winterset 20 years ago.

She was a member of the Methodist church and was active in the W.S.C.S. and Ladies Aid of the Peru church.

She is survived by a son, Lyle Lorentz of Salem, Ore.; three daughters, Mrs. Lonnie Silliman, Mrs. Gail Robinson and Mrs. Don Penn, all of Winterset; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. E. K. Burham, pastor of the First United Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
