Charles Weaver Dies At 91 Years

Charles M. Weaver, a former Madison county farmer, died last Wednesday, August 9, at Ames, where he had lived since 1926. He was 91 years of age.

Mr. Weaver had worked at the Iowa State university horticultural farm from 1926 until 1939, and for the Atomic Energy commission from 1939 to 1945.

He was married to Nellie N. Smith in 1902. Her death occurred in 1965.

Mr. Weaver was born in Madison county Feb. 19, 1876, the son of John William and Floretta Arminta Eppard Weaver, members of a well known Madison county pioneer family.

Surviving are a son, Calvin Weaver of Ames; a daughter, Lema Weaver of Ames; a brother Ralph Weaver of San Diego, Calif.; and four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Speers of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Sadie Smith and Mrs. Roy Smith, both of Winterset, and Mrs. Ed Thompson of Earlham.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Primitive Baptist church near Winterset, in charge of the Rev. Walter Acton. Burial was made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery here.
