Viola Wolverton of Winterset Dies

Mrs. Ellen Viola Wolverton, a life long resident of this county, died June 7th at the Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Wolverton was 89 years of age at her death. She was the former Ellen Viola McDonald, daughter of William Crosby and Amanda Clark McDonald, and was born in Jefferson township, Madison County, October 20, 1876. She was married in Winterset to George W. Wolverton in 1896. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian church.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lucy Crowell of Peoria, Illinois, Mrs. Neva Pritchard of Des Moines and Mrs. Ella Nitchals of Earlham; a son, Ray Wolverton of Winterset; a brother John H. McDonald of Salem, Oregon and a sister, Mrs. Mary Binns of Winterset. She also leaves 8 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Marge Seiler.

Funeral services were held from the Wilson Funeral Home in Winterset Friday in charge of the Rev. John Fink. Burial was in the North McDonald cemetery.
