Tuesday, May 1, 2007CARLSBAD - Loraine Elizabeth Hoover, 84, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at home in Carlsbad from complications of cancer.
Born Feb. 10, 1923, in Earlham, Iowa, she moved to Carlsbad in 1986 after retiring from the Department of the Army after almost 24 years of service. She worked and later volunteered at several local chambers of commerce, visitors centers and at Scripps Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii.
Mrs. Hoover was preceded in death by her son William in 1964 and her husband, Cecil Hoover, in 1979. She is survived by her son Steven; daughter-in-law Joyce; granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Don Long; brother-in-law Roy Hoover; sister-in-law Karen Hoover and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held at her home Friday, May 4, from 3 to 6 p.m.
The family suggests memorial donations to Hospice By the Sea, 312 S. Cedros Ave., Suite 250, Solana Beach, CA 92075.
