Lorena Easter, 90, died Monday, October 15, 2012, at the Carlisle Care Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2012, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Burial will follow at Hopkins Grove Cemetery.

Lorena was born in Des Moines on August 6, 1922. She was an East High School graduate, class of 1940. She was united in marriage to John B. Easter on June 20, 1949 in Winterset, Iowa. She had worked at Grant Photo, Dutton and Lainson, Abercrombie and Fitch and Des Moines Retail Credit. In 1965, she and her husband purchased a grocery store which they ran for ten years. After which, they opened a quick shop and sold that after her husband's death. Most recently, she had worked at the State of Iowa-Department of Agriculture as a lab tech until her retirement in July of 1988.

Lorena had been a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, Highland Park Historical Society, volunteered at the Historical Center and was very active at the Northside Senior Center.

She will be missed by her sons, John (A. Merrily) of Phoenix, AZ and James Easter of Guatemala; grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Dorothy June Easter of Des Moines and Jean Swift of Johnston. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1979; sister, Muriel Edgett and two brothers.
