May 23, 1914 - October 9, 2012A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.
A visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 12, with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m.
Burial will be in the Penn Center Cemetery, Madison County.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mary Dorothy Morrissey was born May 23, 1914 in Union Township, Madison County, Iowa; the daughter of Patrick and Katherine (Bruns) Morrissey. She graduated from high school and was a bookkeeper for a time. She later married Francis Hochstetler on January 8, 1948 and was a devoted housewife.
Dorothy was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Winterset. She enjoyed gardening and showing horses at society shows. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.
Dorothy died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Winterset Care Center South in Winterset. She was 98.
She is survived by her children, Clair Hochstetler (Patricia) of Dexter, Dennis Hochstetler (Paulette) of Dallas Center, Ann McKibbin (Kenneth) of Riverside, and Stephen Hochstetler (Mayumi) of Honolulu, Hawaii; sisters, Marguerite Herrick of Indianola and Ruth Klemm of Sun City, Arizona; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis; a grandson; brothers, Bernard, Henry, James, and Phillip Morrissey; and a sister, Cecelia Bridenstine.
