Francis “Red” Dooley, 74, of Prole died of a heart ailment Monday at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Parish, Irish Settlement in Cumming, of which he was a member. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Dooley was born in Madison County and had lived in the Prole area all his life. He had been a truck driver and a farmer. He was a member of Early Wheels of Iowa Car Club and Central Iowa Model A Club. He was active with Living History Farms and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by five sons, John and Joe, both of Norwalk, Jim of Omaha, Pat of Boise, Idaho, and Charlie of Winterset; three daughters, JoAnn Wiegert of Prole, Jan Lyon of Van Meter and Jeanette Tomlinson of Coleman, Wis.; a brother, Clarence of Martensdale; three sisters, Mabel King of Waukee, Mary C. Pierce of Windsor Heights and Mary Shelia Dooley of Clinton; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. and where a Scriptural wake service will be held at 7 p.m.
