September 22, 2000 Metro pg 7Richard Allen Post, 58, of the 1600 block of University Avenue died of a heart attack Thursday at the 3500 block of Southwest 27th Street. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Dunn’s Funeral Home. Cremation will follow services.
Mr. Post was born in Winterset and had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He was a self-employed contractor and owned and operated Post Construction. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and enjoyed dogs, working with flowers and teaching his nieces and nephews. Some of his work included Spaghetti Works Old Depot building, Hawkeye Building on Court Avenue and several buildings in the Sherman Hill area.
He is survived by his mother, Clara Post of Des Moines; his father, Samuel Post Sr. of Boone; two sisters, Rosalea Stanton of Pleasant Hill and Rosalinda Post-Lucas of Springfield, Ill.; and a brother, Tony of Des Moines.
His companion was Rosemary Hillman of Des Moines.
