December 2, 1997 Metro pg 4Aaron J. “Joe” Davitt, 84, of 3700 E. 31st St. died of complications of Alzheimer’s disease Sunday at Crystal Manor Care Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Church at the Irish Settlement west of Cumming, with burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Mr. Davitt was born in the Cumming area and lived in Martensdale before coming to Des Moines in 1964. A retired farmer, he also worked for Meredith Corp. and owned Locust Tap until 1977.
Among survivors are his wife, Mary; four sons, Richard Davitt of Indianola, Richard Titus Sr. of Des Moines, Robert Titus of Newton and David Titus of Altoona; three daughters, Carol Sones of Nyland, Calif., Judy Wilgenbusch of St. Charles and Betty Miller of Des Moines; two sisters, Elizabeth Watts of Norwalk and Kathryn Isaacs of Des Moines; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a wake service will be held at 7 p.m.
