Page 4INDIANOLA, IA — Services for John D. Alcorn, 79, a retired Indianola farmer who died at his home Friday, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Assembly of God Church here. He is survived by two sons, four daughters, two brothers, a sister, 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Monday, March 14, 1977Services for John Alcorn Held Today
Services for John D. Alcorn, 79, Rt.2, Indianola, were held this afternoon at the Assembly of God Church with interment in the Winterset Cemetery. Mr. Alcorn died Friday.
He had been a resident of the Indianola area for the past five years, coming here from Buffalo, Mo.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Alcorn of Winterset and Glenn Alcorn of Indianola; three daughters Shirley Wade of Quincy, Ill., Mary Lou Hern of Indianola and Lela Kemberry of Thayer; a step-daughter, Eunice Patenaude of Stevensville, Mont.
Also, two brothers, Robert Alcorn and James Alcorn of Danville, Ill., a sister, Nanna Bailey of Winterset' 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, six brothers, one sister, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

John Alcorn was born May 18, 1897, in Madison County, Kentucky, the son of James Curtis Alcorn and Gillian Winkler Alcorn. He was married to Josephine Low Henrichs June 18, 1930.
He farmed most of his life in Adair and Madison Counties, Iowa, before moving to Buffalo, Mo., where he later retired. He moved in 1972 to Indianola where he resided with his son until death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, six brothers, a son, John, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Eugene Alcorn of Winterset and Glenn Alcorn of Indianola; two daughters, Mary Lou Hern of Indianola and Shirley Wade of Quincy, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Eunice Patenoude of Stevensville, Mont., and Lela Kembery of Thayer, 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was a charter member of the Four Square Church in Winterset and later attended the Assembly of God Churches at Buffalo, Mo., and Indianola.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Richard Buck Mar. 14 at Assembly of God Church in Indianola. Interment was in the Winterset Cemetery.
