Wano Laverne Welch of 118 E. Washington St. died Saturday, April 5, 1980, at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 54. He was a lifelong resident of Winterset.
Born on Nov. 15, 1925, in Winterset, he was the son of Pearl S. and Pearl Macumber Welch. An army veteran of World War II, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jane Fryer on Feb. 22, 1947, in Winterset. Mr. Welch was a farmer and car dealer.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; six children, Bruce Welch of DeSoto, Rita Oglesbee, Sandra Pettit, Dona Russell and Walana Welch, all of Winterset, and Terri Welch of Brackettville, Texas; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. David Hunter officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
