Jean Marilyn Teno, 70, of Winterset died July 28, 2012, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 1st at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winterset. A visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 31st at Ochiltree Funeral Service, where family will be present to receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m, Wednesday at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Albia. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.

Jean Marilyn Teno was born August 16, 1941 in Monroe County, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Ida (Jones) Lewis. Jean graduated from Albia High School in 1959 and later went on to receive her nursing degree in 1962 from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Ottumwa. Her marriage to Michael Teno took place on November 28, 1964 in Melrose, Iowa.

Jean worked as a nurse for 42 years. While in Winterset she worked at the Madison County Memorial Hospital from 1980 to 2001.

Jean was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved crocheting, sewing and reading. She also loved to cook and even wrote a cookbook which was published in 2008.

Jean is survived by her husband, Michael Teno of Winterset; her two children, Kevin (Diane) Teno of Sioux Rapids; Marla (Tim) Capps of Indianola and five grandchildren, Kenzie and Brandon Teno and Mason, Chantal and Cedric Capps. She is also survived by her seven siblings; Donna (Ronald) Fisher of Searcy, AR; Evelyn Tangie of Mitchellville; Dolores Trimble of Waterloo; Mary Lewis of Ottumwa; Delmar (Erlene) Lewis of Alma, AR; Donald (Mary) Lewis of Cedar Rapids and Richard (Shirley) Lewis of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
