July 1967Funeral services were held for Mr. D. C. Violett were held at the Evangelical Brethren church in Harlem Wednesday, July 5, at 2 p.m. with Rev. R. J. Anderson conducting the service and 10 other ministers participating.
Mr. Violett died June 30, 1967 at the Deaconess Hospital in Havre.
Pallbearers were Ray Peterson, Rudy Brietmeier, Walter Goldsmith, Gerald Wilson, Gerald O. Bryan and Omer Nelson.
A member of this community since 1913 Mr. Violett homesteaded 13 miles north of Harlem and as an ordained minister, serve the (then) United Brethren parishes in Harlem and Dodson for quite some time.
Surviving are his present wife, Minnie, daughters, Kathryn Arnold, Harlan, Esther McGeever, Missoula; sons, Paul of Hoagland and Brian of Los Angeles, Calif. There are also 24 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
__________________Transcriber's note: Dewey was born in Madison County, Iowa. Although his father is buried under the name "Violet", it appears that Dewey and his children eventually adopted the spelling "Violett".
