ROBERT WIIG

Robert Wiig was born February 16, 1923 in Omaha, Nebraska to Louis and Elva (Vredberg) Wiig. The family moved to Greenfield in 1931, where Robert attended school and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1940. He then worked with his mother at the Wiig Variety Store until selling the business in 1974. Robert cared for his mother until her death in 1978.

Robert was united in marriage to Geralda Hansen in 1981. They made their home in Chariton. He belonged to the First Lutheran Church in Chariton. Robert enjoyed watching professional baseball and football.

Robert passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Laverne Wiig and Wilma Ehm. Robert is survived by his wife, Geralda of Chariton; Geralda's children: Susan Goben, Ronald Hansen, Ted Hansen and families; nieces: Carol Braman and Meb Ehm; and nephews: Randy Wiig and Gary Wiig; along with relatives and friends.
