Mildred A. Shawler, 84, of Riverview Care Center, 701 Riverview Drive, died of renal failure there Thursday. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, with burial at 3 p.m. at Moon Cemetery in Macksburg.

Mrs. Shawler was born in Muskogee, Okla., and had lived in Des Moines since 1953. She moved to the care center a year ago. She was a retired mail room clerk with KCCI-TV and was a member of Staves Memorial United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge and the Pythian Sisters.

Survivors include four daughters, Wilma Akins and Roma Agan of Ankeny, Doris Render of West Des Moines and Sharon Dunbar of Des Moines; a sister, Irene Breakenridge of Orient; two brothers, Bill Porter of Avon Park, Fla., and Ed Porter of West Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
