HERNANDO, FLA. — Joseph E. Purscell, 74, of Hernando, Fla., formerly of Des Moines, died of cancer Thursday at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial will be in the Winterset city cemetery.

Mr. Purscell was born in Madison County and lived in Des Moines until moving to Florida in 1972. He was a truck driver for Arthur H. Neumann Construction Co. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 90 and was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Luella of Hernando; six sons, James of Mayflower, Ark., Wayne, Jerry, Melvin and Larry, all of Des Moines, and Richard of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Jo Mulstay of De Land, Fla.; two brothers, Louis of Colfax and Lawrence of Compton, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
