Anthony F. “Tony” King, 84, of 2501 56th St. died of cancer Friday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Cemetery.

Born in Plato, Mo., Mr. King moved to Des Moines 56 years ago and retired after 34 years as a foreman for Bookey Packing Co. Following retirement he worked as a legislative doorkeeper for the Iowa House of Representatives. He had been a member of Dowling Club, Izaak Walton League and the Crossroads of Iowa Area Agency on Aging and was a past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; a son, Dick of Wichita Falls, Texas; two daughters, Patricia Piper of Menlo Park, Calif., and Kathleen King of Mountain View, Calif.; a brother, Richard Jr. of St. Louis; a sister, Lillian Kenney of Muskogee, Okla.; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call after noon Sunday at Westover Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service will be at 7 p.m.
