James Louis Michaels, 72, of 3716 E. Euclid Ave. died of cancer Friday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. The body will be cremated after the service, with interment of the cremains at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Michaels was born in Seattle, Wash., and had lived in Des Moines for 50 years. He was a retired stationary engineer for the Des Moines Register and a member of the International Freelance Photographers Association, Associated Photographers International, and the Teamsters.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Margie Eppley of Dexter and Carol Payne of Bondurant; a son, Robert of Altoona; eight grandchildren; and 13great-grandchildren.

Note: Burial was made in the Sayre Cemetery, Madison County, Iowa.
