John Herman Berch, Jr., 57, of Peru died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at his residence.
Memorial services were held Monday, May 21, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with Pastor Scott O’Conner officiating. His body has been cremated with interment of his cremains at a later date. Memorials may be given to his family for a future designation.
Herman was born on July 14, 1954, at Winterset to John Herman, Sr. and Rose (Reimann) Berch. He was a 1972 graduate of Winterset High School and served during the Vietnam era. On June 5, 1982, Herman married Susan Hays at Winterset. He had been a lifetime resident of Madison County and for the past 10 years had been the owner and landscaper of Apple Road Landscapes. He also had been an avid member of the Model T Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Herman, Sr. and Rose Ellen (Reimann) Danley; and sister, Jill Rudolf.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Berch of Peru; children, John Berch III of Des Moines and Samantha Berry of Grimes; brother, Randy Berch of Peru, Zack Berch of Ashby, Neb., and Jim Berch of Peru; and three grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
