MURIEL DARLENE SWIGERT, Ogden

Muriel Darlene Swigert, age 85, formerly of Ogden, IA, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the Perry Health Care Center in Perry, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Central Christian Church located at 803 Greene Street in Boone, IA, with Pastor Gary Sneller officiating.

Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, IA.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, at the Walter ~ Schroeder Funeral Home located at Fifth & Story Streets in Boone, IA, from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present to greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Muriel was born on June 27, 1926 in Boone County, south of Ogden, IA, the daughter of Archie R. and Ruth E. (Steven) Grimm.

Muriel attended school in Boone County, IA.

On July 25, 1947, Muriel married Clarence William Swigert in Winterset, IA. Muriel was a homemaker. From 1970 to 1977, Muriel and her husband owned Perry Locker Services in Perry. In 1978 they moved to Ogden where they owned Swigert's Quality Meats.

Muriel was a member of the Central Christian Church of Boone and the Senior Citizens Center in Ogden. Muriel did volunteer work and she visited shut-ins in her community. She also enjoyed gardening and growing flowers.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Leonard Grimm; her sisters, Lucille Grimm, Gail Longhenry and Jessie Leininger.

Muriel is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Brenda Swigert of Des Moines, IA; her son, Ronnie Swigert of West Des Moines, IA; her two grandchildren, Chad Swigert and his wife Debbie of Des Moines, IA and Megan Orr and her husband Jeremy of Grimes, IA; her two great-grandchildren, Parker Swigert and Isolde Swigert; her foster daughters, Jane Leehart of Lohrville, IA and Marie Swigert of West Des Moines, IA; her brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Yvonne Grimm of Sylmar, CA and her sister-in-law, JoAnn Grimm of Boone, IA.

A memorial has been established for the Central Christian Church in memory of Muriel.

Walter ~ Schroeder Funeral Home located at Fifth & Story Streets in Boone is handling the arrangements.
