Edna B. Barnes, 95, of Creston, died Friday, February 24, 2012 at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson Iowa.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 at Powers Funeral Home junction of highway 34 and 25 in Creston.

Pastor Rod Block of Jefferson will officiate.
Burial will be at Moon Cemetery, south of Macksburg.

Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 1 until 2 p.m. service time Tuesday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the family for a cemetery headstone. Online condolences may be made under the obituary category at powersfh.com.

Edna B. Barnes, daughter of Omer Simpson and Lena M. (Campbell) Simpson, was born September 18, 1916 in Macksburg, Iowa. She was educated in Madison County Schools. On Feb. 23, 1946, Edna married Otto Barnes in Winterset, Iowa. They lived and worked most of their life in the Creston area. In additional to be a homemaker, Edna worked as a housekeeper at the Iowana Hotel for many years. Edna had attended the Assembly of God Church in Creston.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris (husband Larry) Gilbertson of Churdan; two sons: Don Barnes of Creston and Bob (wife Jean) Barnes of Atlantic; four grandchildren, Jamey (husband Chuck) Park, Mike (wife Michelle) Barnes, Shelley Gilbertson and Danny (wife Michele) Gilbertson; 12 great-grandchildren, Trent and Sarah Park, Drew McConnell, Alyssa, Maddie and Hannah West, Star Gilbertson, Robert Thoma, Jr., Robin Gilbertson, Elizabeth Rogers, and Cody and Sadie Gilbertson; and many other family and friends.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Barnes, a son, Darrell Barnes in 1996, a granddaughter, Brenda Gilbertson, a sister, Fern Mohr, two brothers, Earl and Vern Simpson.
