AVA PAULINE SCOTT, Dexter

Ava Pauline Scott, 88, of Waukee, Iowa formerly of Dexter passed away May 8, 2012 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A Celebration of her life will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Dexter United Methodist Church in Dexter. Burial will follow the service in the Dexter Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dexter United Methodist Church and/or Maple Grove United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 57, Dexter, Iowa 50070.

Ava was born September 1, 1923 in rural Earlham the youngest daughter of Clark and Una Imes Hunter. Ava was united in marriage to Calvin Scott on April 7, 1943. They were blessed with one son Michael Lynn Scott. She graduated from Dexter High School. Later Ava retired from Meredith Corporation. She was a longtime member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Circle. When she moved from Dexter a year ago, Ava became a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed many loves in her life some including her faith, family and friends. She enjoyed her animals and Singing with the "Notebelles" in Arkansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Calvin; and sisters, Ila Lenocker Paulsen and infant Helen Marie Hunter.

Ava leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Michael Scott of Van Meter; two nieces, Eleanor Stiles and Helen Watson both of Dexter also many other nieces, nephews and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
