Dale M. Brooks, 71, of 1703 Tenth St., died of a stroke Thursday at the West Park Care Center, 1211 Vine St., West Des Moines, after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Westover Funeral Home, with burial in Blair Chapel Cemetery near Winterset.

Mr. Brooks was born in Wayland and lived in Creston before moving to Des Moines in 1935. He was a retired baking company salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche; three daughters, Mrs. George M. Mills, of West Des Moines, Mrs. John R. Kirkpatrick of Des Moines and Mrs. George B. Nelson of Moline, Ill.; a son, Richard L. of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Dean of St. Charles; a sister, Mrs. Marvin Kale of Lubbock, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. Ethel Brooks of Winterset; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
