Frank Johnson, 90, died March 27, 2012 at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Winterset with burial at the Peru Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset where family will greet friends 6 to 8 p.m.
Frank was born in Lovilia, IA on September 25, 1921. He was a resident of Peru for over 52 years. He also proudly served in the Navy during WWII. Frank played lead guitar with the bands, Chet and the Roadrunners and the Drifters for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 66 years; daughters, Nanci Iiams, Darlene (Gene) Miller, Joy (Marlan) Miller, Rosemary (Kerry) McDaniel; 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; and a brother, John (Marge) Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his son, Tom; son-in-law, Russ Iiams; four siblings, Jim, Esther Mason, Dan, and Inez Pearson.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Peru Methodist Church or the First Baptist Church in Winterset.
