Jemima Conner McKibben was born in Burtonsville, Ohio, Oct. 24, 1846 and died at her home in Macksburg, April 22, 1920; her age being 73 years, 5 months and 26 days. She moved with her parents to Herman, Ill., in 1865; later moving to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
In 1873 she was united in marriage to L. C. McKibben. To this union were born three children: Wm. A. McKibben of Rock Island, Ill; Mrs. Fred Bonham of Macksburg and Mrs. Will Reed of Winterset. She too was a true mother to her stepson, Charles E. McKibben of Greenfield.
She converted at the age of 18 years, uniting with the Christian church. Upon moving to Macksburg, she united with the Baptist church and she was a very faithful member. She was never happier than when attending services or in some way serving her Master. She daily read her Bible and during her last illness, found comfort from its many promises. She was a devoted wife and mother and a friend of all.
Besides the husband and children she leaves to mourn her death two grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers: Mrs. A. A. Havens of Creston; Mrs. Elma Dewitt of Mount Pleasant; Miss Ida Conner of Marshalltown; J. M. Conner of Aspen, Colo.; Dr. J. E. Conner of Staten Island, N.Y.; and P. E. Conner of Mount Pleasant.
She has passed beyond the pearly gates, but has left a sweet memory of a beautiful Christian life.
