The Emmett Messenger, Emmett, Idaho
December 26, 1935

John Alexander Adair died early Monday morning at the home of his son, Jesse R. Adair, near the south edge of Emmett. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday.

Mr. Adair was born at Winterset, Iowa, August 18, 1852 and had reached the ripe age of 83 years last August.

He grew up in Iowa but as a young man went to the locality of Denver, Colorado, where he homesteaded some land, but later removed to southeast Kansas where he made his home until 1903. In Kansas he met and married Dursilla Burger, the union resulting in four children who are yet living. The family moved to the valley of the Arkansas River in Colorado in the year of 1903 and Mrs. Adair died there in 1913.

In 1927 Mr. Adair accompanied his son, Jesse R. Adair and family to this community, residing with them most of the time since. Mr. Adair was a man of quiet temperment who followed farming all his active years. He became a member of the Christian church in early life but being of declining health has not been active since residing here.

He leaves two daughters: Mrs. Minnie Young of Portland and Mrs. Leta Smith of Denver. Two sons reside near Emmett, Wilbur O. on the bench north of town and Jesse R. south of town. There are also twelve grandchildren.
