ESTHER NEIDT

Esther Neidt, formally of Truro, Iowa, passed away March 13, 2012 in Gretna, Nebraska. Esther was born on June 29, 1919 to Isam and Daisy (Muselman) Barnes in Truro, Iowa. The family moved to Litchfield, Minnesota when Esther was a young girl, returning to Truro where she attended high school, graduating in 1937. She married Joe Neidt on October 29, 1939.

Esther was a farm wife for many years, eventually becoming employed in the offices of Drs. Coleman, Howard, and Liventals. During her lifetime, Esther was Sunday School Superintendent, youth church choir director, member of the adult church choir, and was active in the United Methodist Women’s group helping with their many dinners, making of rag rugs, quilt making, active at their rummage center and kept the big yellow sign filled with news of upcoming events. She loved gardening and had a great variety of flowers, many of which graced the alter at her church over the years. Esther was also the columnist for the Truro news items for the local newspapers (Winterset Madisonian and Osceola Sentinel-Tribune) for many years. In her later years, she moved to Omaha to be close to her daughters and became involved with weekly craft preparation for a local church there.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe; four brothers Harold, Glen, Kenneth, and Carroll; and granddaughter, Natalie. She is survived by daughters Karen (Robert) Hansen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Kathy (Scott) Weidner of Kansas City, Missouri; grandson Chris (Linda) Hansen of Elkhorn, Nebraska; granddaughter Jodi (Todd) Strong of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and grandson Jason (Sara) Weidner of Kansas City, Missouri; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Evelyn Brant of Truro, Virginia Barnes of Reinbeck, Iowa, and Donna Barnes of Waterloo, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials:
Memorial contributions may be directed to her family.

Visitation:
The family will greet friends on Saturday morning 9:00-10:45 A.M. at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro, Iowa.

Cemetery:
Interment at Young Cemetery near Truro, Iowa will follow the funeral service
