Notes from the Soldiers

Paul George Storck who joined the U.S. army the first of February, was summoned home last week by the death of his mother, Mrs. Paul Storck of Madison township. He is stationed at Camp Walters, Texas.

Some local persons attended the funeral of Mrs. Paul Storck held Friday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran church near DeSoto. Mrs. Storck was released from her suffering and passed away Tuesday, March 10 after an extended illness. Her husband survives, also two sons, Paul George, and Van. Paul, who is one of Uncle Sam’s soldiers, was here from a camp in Texas to attend the last rites. She leaves other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Paul Storck Dies

Van Meter—(Special)—Mrs. Paul Storck passed away very suddenly Tuesday, March 10th after being ill about five years. She was 53 years of age.

Hedwig Margaret Henrietta Bolt was born in Stettin, Germany on May 30, 1888. There in early infancy she was baptized in the faith of the Lutheran church. Her family emigrated to the United States in 1891, locating in Fremont, South Dakota. Subsequently a home was established in Van Meter, Iowa and some time later a permanent residence in Boone, Iowa.

On March 23, 1902 she was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran church at Boone, and she remained a faithful member of the Lutheran church all her life.

On April 21, 1915 she was united in marriage to Paul Storck of Madison county. This union was blessed with two sons, Paul George, at present with the United States army at Camp Walters, Texas, and Van R. still at home. Since her marriage she has been a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran church in Jefferson township as well as a member of the Ladies Aid.

On January 5, 1937 she was partly paralyzed by a stroke and ever since that time she has been practically confined to her home, often suffering intensely.

Besides the two sons, she is survived by her husband, her father Rudolph Bolt, of Boone, two brothers, Louis R. Bolt of St. Paul, Minn., and Emil Bolt of Boone, and one sister, Mrs. Freda Vogt of Grinnell.

The funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran church Friday afternoon, March 13th, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. C. Lillie.

The casketbearers were Clarence Martens, Fred Martens, William Martens, Lou Martens, Grant Martens and Eugene Martens.

Among those here from a distance for the funeral were Paul Storck of Camp Walters, Texas, Rudolph L. Bolt, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Bolt and Mr. and Mrs. John Flockard all of Boone, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Vogt and son Raymond of Grinnell, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kading and the Misses Mildred and Marion Vanderham of Ireton, Mr. and Mrs. Harwig Kamp and son Rudolph and daughter Elizabeth of Polk City, and Dr. Bertha Messersmith of Des Moines.
